The women farmers of Dolakha faced significant challenges in marketing their produce and accessing fair prices. In 2021, Green Foundation Nepal supported them in forming a cooperative and transitioning to organic farming practices. Through training in organic certification, sustainable farming techniques, and business management, these 80 women entrepreneurs now collectively manage 35 hectares of certified organic farmland. They supply fresh vegetables to urban markets in Kathmandu, earning 60% more than conventional farming. The cooperative has also established a processing unit for value-added products like pickles and dried vegetables, creating year-round employment for 25 additional women.
